Jason Two Crow, “Pehriska-ruhpa” (Two Ravens), 51, Parshall, passed to the spirit world, Friday, November 5, 2021, at his home.  

Jason Shane Two Crow was born on March 12, 1970, in Dallas, Texas. He was raised in Parshall, ND by his mother, Noreen Two Crow, and his stepfather, Ronald Foote. He was a member of the Prairie Chicken Clan and was given the name “Pehriska-ruhpa” (Two Ravens).

Jason attended Parshall Elementary and graduated from Parshall High School in 1988. He was on the National Honor Society and participated in basketball, golf, boxing, track, cross country, and softball, but his passion was football. He earned several awards and accolades; he was named All-Conference MVP and received an All-State Honorable Mention for football; he was also All-Conference in basketball.

He continued his education at Minot State University, on a football scholarship, as a running back. He later received his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Mary in Bismarck. He played football for three years at MSU and in 2016 was inducted into the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame. He was also known for the swivel of his hips and his infamous traditional touchdown dance, which he did many times. In 1995, he began training for several triathlons!

In 1992, Jason married Wendy Brunsell and they made their home in Parshall. This union was blessed with three sons. After their relationship ended, they remained friends and co-parented their boys. In 2016, he and Desiree Sams-Herman began their life together and blended their families; their wedding was planned for August of 2022. He was a wonderful father, and stepfather, and helped raise amazing and respectful sons and daughters. He was also a solid father figure to several others.

Jason was a coach, mentor, and inspiring, positive role model to his players. He coached 5th/6th-grade basketball and junior high football. He also coached varsity football in New Town. His boys shared his passion for football, and he basked in pride when two of his sons were on Parshall’s 2009 team that made it to the state football championship. Coaching his boys brought so much joy to his life; his middle son, Dexter, even tied Jason’s school record of five touchdowns in one game.

Jason has worked several jobs throughout the years, always providing for his family. He worked for I’kipi Youth Program which later merged into the Boys and Girls Club, TAT Environmental Dept., and Fort Berthold Housing. He worked construction in his younger days and on the Youth Drug Task Force. In 2012, he began work for Makes Cents, Inc. and was their CEO. He also served on the 4Bears Casino Gaming board and the Parshall Boys and Girls Club board.

He was a DJ for many years under the name “KroMagnum” and would play for school and community events, as well as, for weddings. Jason loved music. He had a wide repertoire for music with his favorites ranging from blues and rock to old-time country.

Jason loved his family. He was a loving son and always looked after his mom. He had a positive and uplifting outlook on life. He was a great researcher who was able to find the information to guide others regardless of his personal experience. He was close with his brothers and always gave his best. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid, die-hard, Minnesota Vikings fan. He was also a good cook! Jason was known as “the captain” of his boat, regardless of the weather,

In 2019, Jason was included in the series by Wet Plate Photographer, Shane Balkowitsch. His plate is displayed at the State Historical Society of North Dakota and at the Pitt Rivers Museum at Oxford in England. The pictures were also included in the book, “Northern Plains Native Americans: A Wet Plate Perspective.”

Even though he suffered chronic pain from his years of playing football, he often commented he would do it all over again and not change a thing. He lived life to its fullest and made many friends. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who made room in his heart for those around him.

Jason is survived by his mother, Noreen Two Crow; sons, Payton, Dexter, and Talon Two Crow; brothers, Toby (Jody) Two Crow and Kyle (Clarice) Star; fiancée, Desiree Sams-Herman and her children, MaKyia and Ava Herman, and Kwinn Rice; special daughter, Destiny Steele; special sister, Rhonda Foote; biological father, Theodore Danks (Cheryl); his fur babies, Oscar, Zilla, and Schnoop; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ronald Foote; maternal grandparents, Willis and Gertrude (Sage) Two Crow; paternal grandparents, James and Elsie Danks; uncles, Marvin, John, Orlando, and Daryl Two Crow; and aunt, Eva Two Crow.

His wake was held Mon. Nov. 8 beginning at 5 p.m. with his funeral Tues. Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., both at Parshall-Lucky Mound Veterans (Red) Memorial Hall, Parshall. His burial was at Memorial Congregational Cemetery, rural Parshall. Dusty Olson served as Senior Pallbearer.
