Clarice Heart
November 28, 1953 – December 6, 2021
Clarice Heart, 68, Minot, formerly of New Town, died Monday, December 6, 2021, in a Minot hospital. Born to Adelbert Lone Bear and Martha Fox, in Minot’s Trinity Hospital, on November 28, 1953; she was raised by her grandma, Annie Sitting Crow, and later by her uncle, Ike Fox. She attended grade school in New Town and at Sunnyside in Minot, before transferring to Wahpeton Indian School and Flandreau Indian School.
While at Flandreau, she met the love of her life Bentley Heart. Due to life events, she moved to El Monte, California with her mother. She worked for Ball Corp. which was a job she truly enjoyed. When she returned to North Dakota, in 1985, fate brought Bentley and her back together. Their union was made official on February 14, 2013. They started the 4 Bears Meal site by fundraising. They served every elder, as well as Washington dignitaries, brought through by Chairman Edward Lone Fight.
Clarice was a very generous person. She always kept her door open for friends or family who needed a place to stay; she never turned anyone away. She loved to search for the perfect gift for loved ones, even when it wasn’t a special occasion.
Clarice loved to sew pillows, make Kleenex sofas, and jewelry. She collected funko pop figures and horses. She had a love of thrifting, flea markets, and craft shopping. She enjoyed going to the casinos and playing word searches and jigsaw puzzles on her iPad. She even hosted family prize bingo nights.
She treasured her family and loved having phone calls and visits with her baby sister Anna White. She also enjoyed having lunches and visits with her sister Toni Starr. She especially cherished her role as grandma and great-grandma. She was always munching on ice.
All animals knew her kindness, seeming to be drawn to her immediately. Her favorite tv shows were Ice Road Truckers, Property Brothers, and Fixer Upper. She also enjoyed Lifetime movies, Hallmark Christmas movies, animated movies; her all-time favorite was Miracle on 34th Street. As well as a love for baby Yoda, baby Groot, and Danny Trejo, who sent her a special birthday wish last year.
Clarice is survived by her children, Martha (Reggie) Salamanca, Anna (Emilio) Burgos Figueroa, Melissa (Juan) Powell, Javier Aquilar, and Avery Heart, all of Minot, ND, and Antonio Salamanca of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Anna White; grandchildren, Ayla, Melissa, Tristan, Rochelle, Isaiah, Tremayne, Tiauna, Christian, Mequail (Stephanie), Zaida, Ezekiel, Ky’Juan, Bianca (Manuel), Edgar, Carlos Jose, Steven (Dafne), Leevon, Clarice, Mirra, and Monse; great-grandchildren, Cecil, Keenan, Marie, Eduardo, Jayden, and Silvia; adopted grandsons, Levi, Randy, Jesse, and Eric; adopted sons, William Broncheau and Steve Poitra.
