Aaron Dean Hosie, Sr. was born December 15, 1973, to Eric Hosie, Sr. and Lynia Masque, in Denver, CO. He was raised in Denver, Kansas, and Sioux Falls before the family settled in White Shield, ND. He attended school mostly in White Shield and was a member of the class of 1992. Aaron was adopted into the Alkali Lodge Clan by Dreke Irwin, and his great-grandpa was a member of the Low Cap Clan.
In 1993, he moved to New Town and met the love of his life, Valeri Fastdog. They made their home in New Town and were later married. They were blessed with five children. Family was so important; Aaron and Valeri kept the family together and always expressed their love for each other and their children. Being an at-home dad was Aaron’s ultimate job. He loved being with his kids! They would go on family bike rides, he taught them all how to swim at the YMCA and was constantly encouraging them to spend time outdoors. He was an amazing father and always willing to teach right from wrong. He was a strong presence in each of their lives.
Aaron had various jobs throughout the years including work at the casino, several schools, and in computers at SRT. He obtained his CDL license and was a truck driver for the tribe and a Minot business. He took pride in his appearance and was recently learning how to play the guitar. In his teen years, he was into break-dancing and rapping; most recently his music genres were country music and rock. Aaron had a special place in his heart for all his animals ranging from cats, dogs, birds, and even frogs.
He met many people throughout the years and his kind spirit attracted many friends. He spent time reminiscing about his high school days and remembering those who have passed on. One of Aaron’s greatest achievements was loving his family. His sons and daughter were raised knowing the love and dedication of their father. His memory will live on in our hearts.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Valeri Fastdog-Hosie; daughter, Kiara Hosie; sons, Isaiah, Aaron Jr., Jairus, and Tamarius Hosie; mother, Lynia Masque; sisters, Janie Villages and Crystal Hosie (Anthony); brother, Eric Hosie Jr. (Sarah); mother-in-law, Gloria Fastdog; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eric Hosie Sr.; brother, John Allen Jr.; grandparents, Pliga YoungBird-Bordeaux, Louis “LIB” Bordeaux, and Everett Hosie; sister, Priscilla Hosie; uncles, Benjamin Hosie and Marlin YellowBird; aunt, Janice Garcia; nephew, Everett Hosie Jr.; father-in-law, George Fastdog; and many extended family, friends, and classmates.
