Chairman Fox's Weekly Projects Update

By Doreen Yellow Bird

Those who lament there is nothing to do in the summer and winter will be excited that a new Family Entertainment Center is in the planning for New Town. Although located in New Town, the center will provide top notch family fun for the whole reservation.

The proposed Center will include: five modular theater rooms that can be used for private family events and are designed for multiple activities. In the planning is also “rope bridges” rock climbing; a 4-lane bowling alley; neon golf, golf simulators, half-court basketball room; special rooms for birthday parties and more. Security will be there to protect children, the facility and other users. The security plan includes controlled access, security cameras and a nursing assistant as needed.

The new center is to be created with the idea that it will be a place where families and children can come together for healthy, positive, exciting and outstanding entertainment.

It is slated to be completed this summer and open in September.

Stem Cell Clinic for Diabetes and other Diseases May Come to MHA

By Doreen Yellow Bird

On the table now is the possibility that the tribe will have access to a clinic that can successfully treat and even cure diabetes.

Chairman Fox sees this as a revelation for our people. He said they have been coordinating efforts with a California Clinic a who has that ability. They specialize in diabetes and state that they can and have cured it and certainly can treat it successfully. Stem cell work has been limited in the United States but can be used on reservations with sovereignty.

They are looking at it closely and will keep people informed as they go along.
