Believe in the Love of God

by Deacon James Baker

To believe in the Love of God we have to have an open mind and heart to receive Gods love and be open to the fact that we are his creation.  He loves his creatures (me and you) dearly.

We must come to believe that he is in charge, he is always near and close to us.  So many times, I have gone off track thinking I’m in charge or all alone in my thinking and in my actions.  Yet God is always there with a loving and forgiving heart ready to lift me up with his loving presence.

I have to remember there is one that would want to ruin that love for us and that is the evil one. He would want me to be caught up in self-doubt, selfishness, and self-centeredness. It is so easy to get caught up in things that take me from the loving presence of God. I have to remember that “God is Love” (1 Jn 4:8).

“Love” the key word: “Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others.  It is not self-seeking it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in Evil but rejoices with the truth, love always protects, always hopes, love always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) because God is Love.

God is good all the time! Believe that God is with us all the time not just at church.  We must always put the acts of God’s Love first in our thoughts and actions, especially when it comes to our neighbors, those people we encounter in our day!

In John 13:34-35 Jesus says: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
