Parshall Lucky Mound INFR Rodeo Brings Excitement and People Together in a Good Way

By Logan J. Davis

The Parshall Lucky Mound INFR (Indian National Finals Rodeo) rodeo that went on all last weekend at the Healing Horse Ranch in Parshall generated an air of excitement for the riders and ropers since it was their chance to compete in their rodeo category and qualify for the INFR in Las Vegas this fall. The rain did not put much of a damper on all of that excitement that was created at the Parshall Lucky Mound Rodeo that attracted the best talent from across the country.

Sponsored by Northeast Segment and the Northern Badlands Indian Rodeo Association, the two days of ‘rodeoing’ was intense with some outstanding rides and roping. The arena held up pretty well despite the heavy rains that fell both days. That was indicative of the Healing Horse Ranch crew that worked so hard to keep the riders and animals safe from injury.

There were competitors from every age and category vying for cash prizes and INFR qualification times. The event was a complete success due to the rodeo participants and staff of the Healing Horse Ranch.

“I am really happy with how it turned out and our personnel did a great job. It’s always an honor to work with the ones who work out there at the ranch, both the full-time and part-time workers included,” said Jim Baker, event coordinator at Healing Horse Ranch. “It is so good to see people back enjoying themselves. I think it keeps us healthy by doing the things we love, whether that be quilting, riding, roping or traditional dancing. Doing things together is important because when people get closer to each other, the closer we get to God. That holds true with getting closer to the animals and that is all part of our taking care of our mental health.”

The Parshall Lucky Mound Rodeo Queen is Jayln Hall and the Northern Badlands Indian Rodeo Association Queen is Sidney Sanderson.
