First Annual Healing Horse Ranch Horse Sale a Super Success with Many a Happy Buyer and Seller

By Logan J. Davis

The Healing Horse Ranch tried something new last week and it caught on like one of the wildfires that have been hitting the area – but this new thing came with a much more positive outcome. The First Annual Healing Horse Ranch Horse Sale went off ‘without a hitch’ and hopefully has ‘triggered’ many more to come in the years ahead. According to many of the buyers and consigners of horses who spent the day and some big money at the Healing Horse Ranch event, the excitement and convenience of being able to buy or sell quality roping, saddle and ranch horses and some ponies was more than worth the trip to Parshall. Buyers and consigners came from all over North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming to take part in the sale and the roping event on Saturday.

Preceding the sale, the horses that were being consigned last Saturday were part of a Jackpot Roping Contest, so that potential buyers could have a ‘look-see’ of the kind of horses they would be bidding on. That went on for a few hours and then the auctioneer and ring men took over. There was some top-notch horse flesh in the auction and there were 35 horses sold with the highest-selling horse going for $32,000. The average on head of the 35 horses sold was $12,000.

Megan Danks bought a horse at a good price and she was trying to come up with a new name of her sorrel roping horse. The horse was called ‘Z’ but Danks has something else in mind for her new addition to her rodeo family.

“We lost a young cowboy this weekend who passed away and my mom said to go ahead and get the horse I liked because life is too short and precious to wait for good things to give yourself,” said Danks.

There were many happy cowboys and cowgirls who were loading up their trailers with some beautiful horses that they plan to start working with back on their own ranch. Jim Baker was also walking around with a big smile knowing that the first horse sale at the Healing Horse Ranch provided such a great service and made people happy with their purchase. The event coordinator said the word will get out just how well the Saturday sale went in Parshall and the Healing Horse Ranch Horse Sale will be a regular event that will only get bigger and better.
