New Town, ND – On Friday, July 2nd Four Bears Segment Representative and Council Woman, Judy V. Brugh, provided a drive-through feed and firework display. This event is held every year on the 4th of July, but this year, due to COVID 19 and the vital need to adhere to social distancing, it was held at Little Shell Arbor. This was an alternative to holding the event at local community centers, as in the past. Furthermore, Council Woman, Judy V. Brugh, wanted to do the yearly event for her segment, so they settled on a drive-through feed located close to the Pow Wow arena and grounds. The event was catered by Jason’s Super Food and hot dogs, burgers and soft beverages were served. The festivities were followed by a firework display headed by Kelly Baker, Lenny Chase, and Joren Chase. The turn-out appeared to be approximately 350 people, and it began at 7:00 p.m. Due in part to the large turn-out, the police and security helped the lines of people navigate through the crowds to get to the concessions. The ‘Head Grill Master,’ on behalf of Jason’s Super Food, was its Meat Department Manager, Todd. Four Bears Segments employees were handing out plates through the windows to packed cars as they drove ‘up’ and ‘through.’ Behind the scenes, Todd was Master on the grill, and the employees prepared plates of hot food.
Although it was hot out, they adhered to ‘Mitigation’ efforts in the warding off of the COVID virus and wore their masks and gloves. ‘Social Distancing’ was a strong and apparent theme throughout the night.
Once everyone had partaken in the meal, the arbor was soon filled with families awaiting the display. If I may say so myself, “That was a good firework show. I could hear cars “honking,” and when there was a pause with the firework explosion noise, I heard children softly, “Oohing” and “ahhing” as they took in the spectacular sights. Despite the Pandemic, it felt nice to have a sense of normalcy in these ‘trying times.’ It seemed everyone was practicing social distancing, and some families were in cars, while others
Everyone was safe and happy. I’m convinced Council Woman, Judy V. Brugh, her staff and her guests did an amazing job at providing the Four Bears Community a good holiday to remember.
