New Town, ND, December 9: Souris Basin Planning Council (SBPC), in partnership with the Small Business Development Center Minot (SBDC), is looking for an AmeriCorps member to serve as the Business Development Coordinator in New Town, North Dakota.

The Business Development Coordinator will engage in learning about SBDC and small business resources; attend community meetings; develop and share marketing material and conduct site visits to raise awareness and promote the virtual office and business resources; develop and administer a community wide business survey and intake evaluations/survey of needs; assist clients with registering for SBDC services, technology, and software; coordinate meetings between individuals/businesses and SBDC; support SBDC supervisor with completing timely and accurate reporting of client time and activity, and program impacts; and communicate and comply with SBDC/UND policy and procedures. The purpose of the ND Small Business Development Center is to assist ND business entrepreneurs, in any phase of business, by providing one on one technical assistance and business training opportunities. The Minot SBDC Center serves Region 2 of ND. By focusing on community and business needs, the SBDC is able to assist with start-up, expansion, exit planning (buy/sell) and business resiliency. Through the Souris Basin Community Builder program, the Business Development Coordinator will help build the organization’s capacity by improving and developing outreach systems, and supporting the launch of a community space/virtual office in New Town. The goal is to connect individuals/businesses with SBDC services and other resources, ultimately enhancing economic opportunities and developing a strong entrepreneurial support system.

SBPC focuses on developing solutions, supporting communities, and allocating resources within the seven-county area of region 2 for almost 50 years. SBPC is currently providing opportunities for community growth through the Souris Basin Community Builder Program, which builds partnerships and collaborations with area nonprofits and communities to develop strategies to better serve the residents of North Dakota. SBPC also offers business finance programs such as the Impact Fund, a low interest, flexible financing tool.
