John Charging was a remarkable man who was honored in a great memorial golf tournament on Saturday, September 4th for the late MHA Nation tribal member. Charging was a renowned golfer so it was truly fitting there were so many golfers who paid tribute to him by entering and competing in a golf tournament at Edgewater Golf Course where Charging spent time honing his own skills on the fairways and greens.

“John was an avid golfer and he had a lot of friends from everywhere,” said Don Charging, brother of John.

The John Charging Memorial Golf Tournament was well-organized and there were 29 teams that competed in the sport that John Charging loved. There was a ‘Calcutta’ on Friday that featured some major prize money and provided excitement and great competition. The Saturday action for the memorial began in the morning with a host of golfers teeing off at 10 am. The weather was perfect on both days for golf with sunny skies and very little wind. The Edgewater Golf Course also provided a great venue for a memorial golf tournament with the John Charging family members appreciative of the many golfers who paid tribute to the late MHA Nation tribal member.

John Charging had a great love for the community and was a man that worked hard for the tribe in everything he did. A respected individual, Charging will always be remembered in a positive way. The John Charging family provided a dinner on Saturday that was catered by Famous Dave’s of Bismarck that all enjoyed.
