Riannon Charging was just one of the graduates. She graduated with an Associates in Addiction Studies. When asked what her plans are now, she responded that she plans on going further with her education. Riannon is going to take a short break from school for the rest of the year and work. Then she is going to apply at Good Road Recovery Center as a Residential Advisor (RA). Maybe look into becoming a Peer Support Specialist. Starting next spring she will be enrolling in class to further her degree at Minot State University. Once Riannon earns her Bachelor’s degree, she would like to take the state licensure test to officially become an Addictions Counselor. Ultimately her goal is to get a job at the Good Road recovery Center and help her people.

Teliea Baker also graduated with an Associate’s degree in Addiction Studies. She is currently looking into attending Minot State University for the fall semester and will be working towards her Bachelors in Science to become a Licensed Addiction Counselor. When asked what the hardest part about obtaining her degree, she replied “there was no hardest part, I just needed to step up my game for college. Juggling life, family, college and community.” Her favorite class was “Dynamics of Addiction” and the one thing that sticks out in her mind that she learned was the “learning and understanding the behavior of addicts.”

There has now been a total of four students to graduate from the addiction studies program that is offered here at the Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College. They are now well on their way towards becoming Licensed Addiction Counselors.
