Sherri Lynn Steele
April 13, 1973 – March 2, 2021
Sherri Lynn Steele was born April 13, 1973 in Stanley to James and Camillia (Brunelle) Steele. When she was two years old, her parents and infant sister, Michelle, died in a car accident, while Sherri was with a babysitter. She was raised by her grandparents, Ernest and Phyllis Steele.
Growing up Sherri enjoyed being on the farm with her Grandma and Grandpa. She loved her dog Toby very much. As a teen, Sherri spent her summers on the farm, 4 wheeling, working on the farm, and taking care of all the farm cats. She also enjoyed taking care of very special nephews: Tyler, Brandon, and Andrew.
Sherri was a Parshall Brave. She was a cheerleader, played volleyball, participated in track, and played the saxophone for the school band. She graduated from Parshall High School in 1991. She was a great student and her teachers loved her. Sherri continued her education and earned several degrees including a Master’s degree in Business Management from the University of Mary in 2004.
In 1992, Sherri was blessed with her daughter, Destiny Marie. This was the best day of her life. Sherri loved being a mother. She showered her daughter with affection and love. Sherri never missed a basketball or volleyball game. Destiny could always count on her mom to be there. They shared a close bond and were best friends.
Sherri made her home in Parshall, ND and was involved in many community activities. She was also a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked at Four Bears Casino in the business office before taking a position with Job Service ND in New Town. A few years later, she returned to work at the casino later in HR. Most recently she started working for United Tribes Technical College in their finance department.
Sherri was a very hard worker and gave 100% in everything she did. She was a wonderful friend to everybody and an amazing coworker to have on your team. You could feel her smile on the phone and she never hesitated to put a smiley face in her emails.
Not only was Sherri a great mother, but she cherished time with her grandchildren, whom she recently moved to Bismarck to care for during the pandemic. Sherri’s grandchildren were her whole world. She was present at each birth and continued to be present for every holiday, birthday, and celebration. She would throw these phenomenal parties for their birthdays and continued to shower them with love throughout the other days of the year. She enjoyed many activities with the kids: popcorn and movie nights, swimming, and always finding new pajamas.
Sherri was all about her family and made sure that Destiny knew exactly where she came from. She passed on the family tree knowledge and took great pride in her roots. Sherri always loved to spend time outside in the sunshine. Sherri had a warm and sunny personality and even felt like sunshine. She loved to feel the breeze and have the windows open. Sherri enjoyed making everyone feel special. If you just met her, she made you feel like you have known her your whole life.
On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Sherri passed away unexpectedly, at a Bismarck hospital. Her sparkle will be greatly missed by many including her daughter, Destiny Steele of Bismarck; grandchildren, Sapphire, Dak, and Deluca White Horse; special cousins, Wendy, Chad, and Troy Brunsell; grandmother, Lorraine Brunelle; many aunts and uncles, special nieces and nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Camillia Steele; infant sister, Michelle; grandparents, Ernest and Phyllis Steele and Sylvester Brunelle; and extended family members.
