Parshall, ND – Last week saw a bustle of activity at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Parshall with two days of distributions of food, water and school supplies by the Northeast Segment and office of Councilman Mervin Packineau. Several Northeast Segment employees and volunteers teamed up to make the distributions smooth as clockwork.

On Thursday, essential school supplies were given to every student who attends Parshall from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Various colored crates that are good for organizing were given to the elementary students filled with school supplies and bags of supplies were distributed to the high school students.

On Friday, the Northeast Segment spent all afternoon handing out generous amounts of meat, potatoes, bottled water, and cleaning supplies with a variety of hard-working volunteer assisting Councilman Packineau in that distribution. According to Northeast Segment staff member Katie Moreno who kept tally both days, there were approximately 175 families who received food, water and cleaning supplies. Moreno noted that on Thursday, there were over 200 students who received school supplies.

On both days of the distributions, recipients stayed in their vehicles and did a drive-through as the volunteers brought the food and school supplies to their vehicles. The meat was packaged and the people were given a wide variety of wholesome fresh meat such as bacon, ground pork, hams, pork roast and other meats. Quality potatoes and cases of bottled water were also provided.

Both events were successful and there was a steady flow of traffic during the distributions.
